5.3L Performance Upgrades?

I'm a new member here and this is my first post. I just bought a 99 Silverado 3 weeks ago with 60,000 miles. Performance wise, it's all stock. I was wondering what free and/or cheap (under $100) mods are available to improve power and fuel economy. Fuel economy can't decrease, but if it stays the same (16 MPG) I'll be happy. I was thinking of a K&N because I have had good luck with them in the past. I've searched through some posts here and see some people are using HPP3 and FIPK. What are these? I work on cars for a living and have never heard of these before. Maybe it's time to look for a new job!

Hi and welcome-

Based on what you've stated above, I would change the plug and wires, switch to synthetic oil, change the trans and rear end oil, and check here for some $100 and under ideas.

The FIPK and HPIII are no where near a $100 add on unless you find a good deal on ebay.
