07 Sierra Vortec Max Pix

I just wanted to show you guys my truck. I finally got the pix I took a couple of weeks ago off the camera. I put a RC 2" leveling kit on it just before Christmas and I also put new shoes on her too; Cooper Discoverer ST in 285/60R20s. The day these pictures were taken was the last Saturday before deer season closed so I took my sons down to our place to hunt. That's why she's such a mess.

It was also the day I realized that the alignment had suddenly gone south. I finally got her over to the tire shop over this past weekend and they informed me that the passenger side tie rod was fully adjusted out and was just barely within tolerance and also that both upper control arm ball joints were toast. About $1K worth of work was needed.

My son in law mentioned that I could get a lift kit for about half that so I ordered the 3.5" RC lift kit with UCAs. I know some have said that you won't be able to align them after putting this kit on, but I called them and they said that they have fixed that problem so hopefully this is true. We'll see because Saturday I'll be putting it on. Oh yeah, they did say to be sure and take the leveling kit off so I'll make sure and do that as well.

Anyway, here's the pix. Enjoy!!

Mike

I really hate you... I want those 20's and I'm trying to talk myself out of getting some this summer but pictures of them on trucks aren't helping!

Only thing holding me back is the lack of good 33" mud tires that aren't 12.5" wide

Nice truck though!

Thanks guys.

Yeah, sab316 be careful what you wish for. The 20s are nice I guess but trying to find rubber to fit them gets REAL EXPENSIVE!!! Everybody else is spending $600, $800, $900 bucks for a set of tires and all of the sudden the price jumps up to $1500-$1800 for a set of anything with any real tread on it when you say "OH yeah, and those are 20" rims." I eeked out with the Discoverers for a few hundred less than the low number above but that was a hard pill to swallow my friend. I'm a self avowed cheapskate. And now all of the sudden after they've only been on there for 2 months, the alignment goes wack and they want another grand to fix THAT.

L76, the mirrors came with the truck. Other than the leveling kit and the new tires the only real modifications I've made to the truck are to back into my wife's Suburban (NO, alcohol was NOT involved, being a BUMDASS was!!! ). This put a kneecap sized dent in the newly replaced bumper and kinked the body side panel just above the rear wheel on the passenger side.

Thank goodness for the good weather. I'll be out bright and early Saturday morning putting the new lift kit under the old girl. I'll try to post some new and improved pictures once that's done.

To the OP, I am jealous of your engine and the wheel tire combo also. It is also refreshing to see someone getting their truck dirty instead of clean for once.

Yeaahhhhhhhhhhh, about that. What's gas running up your way? The VMax is really nice when I'm pulling my 16' trailer with my tractor or 3 - 4 ATVs on it, but that's a very, very small percentage of the time. All the other times there is no way of getting more than 12 mpg. I've tried everything I can think of to get more out of it but uh-uh, it ain't happening. My wife and I have even resorted to swapping vehicles to drive to work. She works at my youngest one's school right around the corner and I drive 12+ miles a day so she drives my truck  and I get the '02 Suburban. Not the plan I had in mind.

But, ya gotta do what'chu gotta do...

Thanks though vette! It is a nice truck that I really do like. I don't meant to sound like I'm ungrateful for the things that I have. I just wish the world would slow down and get back to some kind of normal. What stuff costs these days is STOOPID!!!

That sucks. But the same thing is true for me and my fiance. We rarely take the truck on trips because her car gets about 12-13 mpg BETTER than my truck does. Even on long trips where we don't want to worry about the reliability of her car(her Grand Prix has 200k on it now), we found that we still saved money by renting a car for a week. I hope I don't ever have to swap her vehicles, but it may come to that someday.
