grizzlyrafting Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hey Guys, Just back from having a good hard look at a 2011 Sierra SLT with the All Terrain package, wow its a serious machine. I avoided the salesman and wanted to hear from you all first... Just wondering if there are any All Terrain package owners out there and how they like their trucks with that package? How much different is it from the Z71 package? appreciate your replies since I'm considering buying this truck. Thank you..
Superperv23 Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I have the SLE All Terrain package. I looked at the SLT but I couldn't get a color I liked in the all terrain package. The all terrain package gets you quite a bit more than the normal Z71, the only mechanical difference is the rancho branded shocks, which I hated and swapped for Bilstein 5100's. Then appearance wise you get the different 18in wheels, chrome 4 bar grill, chrome inserts in bodyside moldings, and of course the badges. On the inside you get carbon fiber look gauges and in an SLT it changes the wood grain inserts to aluminum and the cup holders are covered. It is more of an appearance package than a mechanical package, I really like the small difference on mine though.
herm0016 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I like the non-truck dash with brush metal inserts a lot better than the truck dash. I also love the wheels. I have an 09 all terrain.
DwelveAT Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Great package... as others have stated already, Z71 with added "appearance." Lifted mine and ever since, I have numerous people asking if it came like that stock seeing the All Terrain badge is still on.

AThomas7782 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 The one lament with the current All-Terrain package... Why did they change the wheels?
TP@CLNC Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 The one lament with the current All-Terrain package... Why did they change the wheels? Do that make that in the HD 2500 series? I bought a 2011 GMC HD 2500 series recently from my local dealer while overseas (still here) so I didnt go on any of the car lots to look at the other choices. I keep seeing more talk about this All Terrain package, but i didnt even see it on the gmc website when i was looking at buying my HD 2500.

grizzlyrafting Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 Thanks guys for all your replies.. I hope to take one out for a test drive soon and I'm sure that will set the hook.. Then on the other hand after seeing the GM Sierra concept unveiled at the Detroit Autoshow in Dec 2010 I've been having dreams. Maybe something worth waiting for? again thanks for your replies...

I personally think it is the perfect time to buy a new truck with the rebates and low financing, get one now on a 5yr finance wait 2 or 3 years for the new one and you may not lose any money on the trade in vs amount left owing.

I would be patient and go for the new body style... or your new trucks gonna look old in a year or so.. I was tempted to trade the 08 in on an '11 (really like the 6-speed). But ill probably wait for a '12 or '13.
Z45 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Have a 2010 AT Z71 e cab with every option but sunroof. Only complaint I have and its minor is the Rancho Shocks. In really cold weather the suspension is very stiff and hitting pot holes or bumps the truck feel likes it falling apart. Rides like my 1999 HD K2500 suburban did. With all mandated fuel economy standards coming, future trucks/suv's are going to cost a lot more. Trucks and SUV's are considered evil by a certain segment of the county. A lady I know used to get the middle finger from women when she was driving here Hummer H3 in town, even though it got about the same mpg if not a little better than most trucks. She gave the finger right back to them.
