Decided To Add A Tuff Country Lveling Kit...

I bought this truck about a month ago sight unseen. I live in michigan and I had my dealer get it from new york. It's a 2009 silverado 2500HD crew cab LTZ. When I got it, it already had a magnaflow exhaust, AFE air intake and some extremely bald 285/70/17 tires. Tires didn't rub at the time since they were bald. I added a new set of duratracs and the rubbing began. Not too bad, but noticable. I really get it when the front drops 1 inch with my plow on. The truck seemed to be a really rough ride too, but I chalked that up to being the 2500HD. All my previous trucks were 1500s. I went out today to see if I could crank my torsion keys up a little and found they were maxxed out. This must be why my ride is so rough! The previous owner must of had the rubbing issue too. So I ordered the 2" leveling kit today.....it should get rid of my rub and possibly give me a little smoother ride. I took a measurement from the bottom of the rims to the wheel well and I get 36" in back and 34" up front. Not sure how much the previous owner gained by cranking the front all the way up?

Anybody else have this kit? Insights? thoughts? I figure this was my best option. Thanks for reading.

Update: kit was installed today and alignment was done. Rear measurement from base of rim to wheel well was just shy of 36" Front measurement with torsion bar maxxed out was 34". Im guessing there was an inch gained by maxxing the bar. Ride was extremely rough though! After installation of the tuff country kit, rear measurement is 35 3/4" and front was 34 1/2 with much more adjustment available. After 1 1/2 turns of the bolt, the front jumped to 35". So there is a slight rake, which is fine for me and no more wheel rub. Truck is much smoother on the bumps now too! Money well spent!

FYI, From what i've read on here, cranking the torsion bars can be really bad on the front end. I was wanting to do the same thing you did, but now i'm having second thoughts. Do you have any pics of yours, before and after?

I didnt take any pics. Kit has been on for 2 weeks now and it's great! So much better not hearing the wheels rub on the fenders. It's also a smoother ride as aposed to the stock keys being tightened all the way. I would recommend it.

I went with a BDS 2" kit, had it installed at a local spring shop. The did in about 4 hrs. The truck looks so much better and i am sure when I take of the snows and put on the summer rims tires they wont rub like last year. The American Baja rims have a differnet offset from the factory rims.
