Truxedo Lo Pro Qt Tonneau Installation?

Just installed the Truxedo Lo Pro QT tonneau cover today and the installation was a breeze and the tension setting was perfect right out of the box. This cover looks great and appears to be very well made, much better than the Extang RT cover I had on my last truck.

they always send them with about 2-3 threads showing, dial both down so no threads are showing, so it doesnt stretch right away, trust me, i do about 5 a day

Thanks for the heads up on the initial tension adjustment, I will go out and change this right now before I forget. :(

I called Truxedo and they sent me the shims. I haven't tried to install yet as the weather

here in upstate NY has been brutal. I was also kind of confused by the directions, especially

the spacing. Each set of directions shows different spacing. I have the 6.6 bed and figure

that about 8 inches from the ends should work ok. The shims are nothing much at all, but

do take up some gap between the bed rail covers and the metal rail. Since I haven't tried

it yet, I don't know whether the shims will interfere with the double sided tape on the covers.

If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it as I need to install it this weekend.

Thanks

What Truxedo cover did you purchase? I just installed my Truxedo Lo Pro QT cover yesterday and I did not notice any double-sided tape in the box. My side rails had a rubber seal stuck to them and this rubber seal sits against the inside top bed rail and held there by three clamps.

You need to use the clamp extentions provided, so follow the clamp extension directions for clamp spacing. Although with my 2011 Sierra the clamping positions available are quite obvious, since there are small access holes that the clamp extensions need to slide into to position them close to the meassurements given in the directions. For example on the rear clamp, once you slide the clamp extension into the hole as far back as you can your in the proper position. The same goes for the front clamp, but in this case you slide the clamp into the hole as far forward as possible. The middle clamp actually more towards the rear than front and slides into a similar hole under the frame rail. The clamps are adjustable to get the frame rails to sit level on the bed rails and I found the middle position worked for me. I was able to install this cover all by myself by first positioning the clamps and then carefully sliding the rail into position and then tightening the clamps by hand to hold it in place. I then got in the bed and adjusted rails and tighten the clamps. This was the easiest tonneau cover installation I've ever done of the four different covers I've owned over the years and its the best looking one of the bunch as well. :idiot:

I was talking about the double sided tape on the bed rail covers. I did not pull

the tape off them where they meet the truck rails inside the bed. I had the shims

and wondered whether they would go above the bed rail tape or whether they

would interfere with the tape. The bed rail covers were the first thing that I put

on the truck. I can see that there is going to be some slack between the rail covers

and the truck rail and I would guess that the shims are presented to fill that void and

keep the clamps from crushing the inside of the bed rails.

Does Truxedo honor the lifetime warranty? Is the ebay an actual authorized dealer? When I register my purchase on the Truxedo website for the warranty, it requires not only my information, but also where I purchased and what I paid. It seems that this would cause problems. (unless the only problem is advertising a lower price, not the actual selling at lower price)...

I was able to register my Truxedo LoPro QT on there website w/o any problems. The only tricky part is they ask for the name of the store where I bought it, so I enter Wholesale Direct, because I bought from ebay seller wholesaledirect27. I actually emailed Truxedo with an installation question over the weekend and they got back to me today via email. I told them I had gotten the same information from people on this site, I went onto tell them that my installation went great except for on of the rail seals was crooked and I had to peal it off and reposition it. I said I was a little concerned that doing this might have comprimised the adhesive strength, so they said they would send me out a new set of rail seals just to be on the safe side. So far they have been very helpful, but we'll have to see if any future warranty claim will be an issue and hopefully I will never have to find out. Many folks on this site have bought their Truxedo Lo Pro QT covers from this ebay seller, maybe they can tell us if there was any issue honoring the Truxedo warranty.
