Day On The Farm

Well I came back from college this weekend and decided to help the parents out on the "farm". They recently bought about 113 acres and we are clearing off the privet and underbrush and saving as many oak trees as we can. The big reason for buying the land is they wanted to move out into the country. The other reason was they are planting blue berries. So I got the truck a little muddier this weekend and figured I'd snap a few pictures from my cell phone while I was out there.

Picture of mine and my dad's truck. Also the ole man snuck in there while he was messing with the chainsaw at the truck. This is also where their garden is going to be.

Picture of the clean-out we had done underneath the trees. The privet was probably 15-20' high and was looking pretty rough. We've been cleaning out big areas for probably 6 months and have burn piles all over the land we are just waiting to burn.

Hard to see but thats about 2,000 +/- blueberries waiting for spring to start growing. We also own a lawncare company so it's going to be a busy year for everyone

Up by the existing pond on the property.

Picture of the new pond that was finished at the end of December and that beast of a pier. Pond is about 4-5 acres total. Can't wait for it to fill up so we can stock it.

that looks awesome! And so does the truck. GM Trucks make the best looking and performing work trucks in my opinion.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

You need to talk your folks into letting you bring in some rocks to make a rock garden and might as well make a mud pit while your at it. :idiot:

Nice farm!!! Does have a pond or a creek running through it?

Me and my dad have been trying to get some land, but the prices are ridiculous!! 2000+ bucks per acre of land?!?!?!

Looks like you had a bit of fun. I miss visiting and helping my grandpa on his farm and have been wanting to take the truck to the farm to help out and maybe do a little bit of playing.

Yeah it has an existing pond. A creek with a crossing cut through it thats really cool... I need to take a picture of that. And then the pond we just put in.

$2,000 an acre isn't bad around here at all. Thats fairly cheap actually. Land only goes up in value... they don't make anymore of it!

Land is selling for up to $11000/acre around here

My land was valued at 15,000/acre in 2001. One of my neighbors has 5 acres for sale now, but he wants 95,000 for it. It is old pasture land that now has scrub pines and various other plants on it. You couldn't walk through it if you wanted, and about 2 acres of it is seasonably wet, and you couldn't do anything with it.
