95 350 Idles Fine But Boggs Out When Revved

I have a 1995 2500 cheyenne with a 350 throttle body injection not a vortec motor. It has new plugs and wires, new distributor cap and button, new air cleaner and fuel pump. The truck starts fine and idles fine but after about thirty seconds starts to puff white smoke. If i try to rev the engine it tries to rev up and then stalls out and just saves itself then goes back to idling fine. There is fuel spray up inside the air cleaner and when i turn off the engine and open the throttleflaps white smoke comes up from the intake manifold. Does anyone know whats wrong with the motor i need the truck back for work asap. Please help. Thanks.

Sounds like fuel starvation, or extremely rich condition.

Did you change the fuel filter? Did they give you the correct pump? Check your fuel pressure regulator, and pop out your #1 plug after you hit the gas and it bogs....just hit the gas to get it to bog out than shut it off...see if its wet and black meaning getting a lot of fuel or if the plug is dry and white, saying its not getting enough.

You might want to check for an exhaust restriction as well

either with an exhaust back pressure gauge or a vacuume gauge. If you use a vacuume gauge connected to a vac. port the gauge should read normal at idle (18 hg ) at idle and when you snap the throttle the gauge should drop of dramatically. If not the exhaust is restricted ie: Catalyhic converter.

Sounds like timing.but check fuel pressure.

That's what I was thinking first, but you should have rough idle and backfiring if that were the case....I'd toss a light on it anyway.

Also, the OP only changed the cap and rotor...and if he crossed wires it would run like shit. Unless he moved the dizzy it should be fine.

Oh...here's a question for the OP....Did you check the gap on the new plugs? They're supposed to be pre gaped, but I have seen them be out to lunch before....and too much gap can definitely do this.

the cat converters are punched out and the computer is throwing and oxygen sensor code and a throttle body postion sensor code gonnna change the tps that has to be the problem checked everything else gotta change fuel filter too.

Pull the positive cable off the battery first....may be a matter of a screwed up signal to the TPS. It works about 5% of the time....but cheaper than a new TPS.
