Installed Kw-xr810, Gmos-lan-01, Swi-jack And Siriusconnect

This Is My First Post So Please Bear With Me:

I have a 2007 New Body Style Silverado, that came with a horrible stereo system. I didn't want to lose my portable Sirius radio so I went with this set-up.

JVC KW-XR810 2 DIN CD Receiver

PAC SWI-JACK JVC

GM Onstar GMOS-LAN-01

Metra E5000 SPDT Relay

Sirius SC-VDOC1 SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock Kit

JVC KS-SRA100 SIRIUS Adapter

I have installed a lot of systems over the years and I have been holding this install off since I drove it off the lot, due to the cost of accessories for just a radio. Little did I know how difficult this would be, it is a one day job but it was a long one. I searched everywhere for information and didn't find much if any for this install this is the reason I am writing this.

First Off the JVC KW-XR810 was a awesome choice and I found only a handful of reviews for it but decided that it was a good fit for me. It really has brought my truck to life! It has a lot of options you can check them out here. JVC KW-XR810

Next I installed the GMOS-LAN-01 These instructions were difficult to read but I was able to install it. Just carefully read the instructions first and you should be fine. The 2 back speaker wires will be routed around the box from the Radio Harness to the 2 harnesses for the truck. GM Onstar GMOS-LAN-01

Then the SPDT Relay... this took me awhile to figure out what it was for. This Relay is to retain the blinker sound since it will be lost once all connected. Basically you connect the Black wire and the Green wire to the Onstar unit power and ground I believe, and it will retain your blinkers. I extended the wires and mounted this up under my side of the dash since it kinda sounds like an older('70's) type of blinker. This Relay isn't used the way it could be but I does work for the blinkers. Metra E5000 SPDT Relay

Now time to install the Swi-Jack - This was a pain in the A. You will need to find a switched power which is difficult to find in the new body trucks. I poked and proded every where and finaly found a spot that was switched. I am not sure of the name but under the drivers dash there is a box to the left against the firewall that has a cover that comes off. Inside there is a lot of plugs and wires depending on your truck accessories, it could be different but in mine the bottom 2 rows and colums were empty(bottom 4). The one on the left second from bottom up was empty. In that plug area you will see 2 rows of prongs. The bottom row first to the left is switched. This is what you will need. I used a speaker wire connector to access the switched power there. Now you need to connect the ground. What I did was grounded it and the halo support under the steering wheel. For the Green wire in this truck you just follow the directions on the PAC Website:'07 Silverado NBS JVC SWI-Jack what I did was cut the wire (pin 6) and spliced the original 2 wires along with the green wire from the swi-jack together and solderd. Now its time to program this: Follow the instructions that are on the website and this is the basics here. You will need to be fast with this process and it make take a dozen times to get right but it will be worth it. Hold down the program button then turn on the ignition let go hit one time, it will flash back once as your version. now you will need to program the buttons per your radio as seen on the site. DO NOT TURN OFF THE IGNITION until finished. This process has to be fast and accurate or it will not work.PAC SWI-JACK

Now time to install the JVC KS-SRA100 SIRIUS Adapter KS-SRA100. This is just a ground and power wire then connect to back of your stereo. I installed it behind the upper glove compartment.

Last but not least now time to connect the Sirius SC-VDOC1 SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock Kit SC-VDOC1. I connected this plug to the sirius plug from the SRA100 wire. Then I put all the extra cable's behind the upper glove box. I drilled out a hole in the side of the upper glove box and mounted the mount/Dock to the inside of the box. then connect the antenna and mounted that to the roof.

Everything works and sounds great! Now I am looking for speakers that I don't have to use an amp with. I am looking at these Infinity Kappa 63.9i I want these up front and these Infinity Kappa 52.9i for the back... Anyone know how these would sound without an amp?

My Alpine CDA-105 and kit comes in tomorrow. My local Best Buy had the SWI Jack on clearance because they are not using them anymore so I bought it for $25 instead of one from Crutchfield (Axxess and PAC SWI Jack were both $70).

I'm reading up on the install of the SWI Jack to prep for the installation tomorrow and have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

I know the black, red, and green are the only wires I need. The green wire needs to go to the connector below the steering wheel and to the left, where the green wire is. I got that much...but after I splice those 2 wires together, do I need to leave it as is or do they both need to go back into the hole the original wire was, in the connector?

The red and black wires connect to the harness from the new stereo, correct?

I think that's all I have. Sorry for the newb questions.

No problem, I hope I am not too late for your install. Your right the black and red are your ground and Hot wire. Make sure you run a switched power for your hot wire.

The green wire you just need to tap it don't cut it. I actually messed up but found out later that I just needed to tap into the green wire. I am not sure how your '05 is but you want to leave the wire from your steering wheel to the plug where it is, you just want to tap it like this Wire Tap. I just removed some of the insulation on the wire and soldered then green swi wire to the steering wheel plug wire then taped it.

My truck is like yours. I had an aftermarket stereo installed with a GMOS-LAN-01 interface. Everything works perfect, except it only lasts for a few days. All of a sudden the stereo will not power on again unless I do a "hard reset" (disconnect/reconnect the battery). Only then everything comes back to life for a couple more days. Then the cycle starts again for no apparent reason.

Have you or anybody else in this blog experienced this issue? I need some help. The installers are puzzled as much as I am. I have found other people having the same exact problem in GMOS-LAN-01 reviews on the web but no solutions yet...
