Knock Sensor Code

I have a 2005 5.3 Suburban I just bought, I bought it as a repairable. Needed light front work. i have put around 800 miles on it so far and all of a sudden a code came up. The code says bank 2 knock sensor. Circuit low input

 

What is it? And what is it's function?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I just had this code as well. It's not too hard to replace, if you remove the intake they are located in the valley pan. The rear one is bank 2 I believe and it's very common from what I've read. They tend to get moisture in them and throw this code.

Well I guess thats going to been fun. I just bought the Sub. It was a repairable If that truely the solution, Just have to get it fixed.

Honestly I don't know if it went up or not. I just bought mine too and had only driven it like 30miles.

OUCH I had my code cleared and it was clear for about 30 to 40 miles. Seems like the person who you bought your truck from knew about it. I would have an issue with that............

 

Hey. out of curiosity what kind of milage are you getting. I brought minr home from South Dakoata after haven it repaired from the accident, I got 19.8 mpg running 75 mph and a 20-30 mph side wind. In town last week I got 16.5 mpg. What will happen when I get my knock sensor fixed????

I bought mine knowing it had the issues, I was able to get it cheaper because I can fix it myself. I don't drive the truck much it is my 3rd vehicle so I've only ran 1 tank of gas through it. It was 3/4 Highway and 1/4 city/little hauling I got about 17mpg. I haven't had a chance to give mine a good tune up so after I do that it might get a little better. It has 105,xxx on it and I'd say it's the original fluids everywhere and original spark plugs.

 

The knock sensor kind of adjusts timing so that the engine can determine the right air/feul mixture I believe. It makes sure that your engine is making the most power and the best fuel economy as possible. So replacing it will just help your engine run better and probably help you get some more mpg's.

the senors arent hard to get at and no need to change the oil if you do replace them. all you do is remove the intake, then unscrew the sensors. if they are stuck you can take the valley tray off to make it easier just be sure eveything is clean first and you wont get any crap down into the valley.

Gone threw the same issue mpg will go up and so will the HP when there out it turns the timing down a lot. I suggest using oem sensors when repairing it iv read a lot of ppl say that the after market ones still kick the check engine light and read low..... It's a easy job but as stated b4 make sure everything is clean! Also use a rtv sealer around the rubber part that's on the valley pan that way no water gets in it and u don't have the same issue n a couple yrs
