Need Help With A Question

It is pooring rain outside and I dont feel comfortable pulling everything in my truck apart with all the rain coming down....anyway I am trying to find out how much space there is, if any between the interior panel behind the rear seat, and the actual rear "shell" of the cab. The area that is just below the rear window....I am planning out where I am going to place me amp and sub and I had an idea of using some thin MDF board, or some other kind of material to place behind the plastic panel to add a little reinforcement to the mounting, that way I am not mounting an expensive amp and sub on plastic only, nor am I drilling hols through the metal of the cabin.

If it makes any difference I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado double cab with the 60/40 back seat, it is an 07 but has the 06 style body.

Thanks in advance guys!

What I did my 05 crewcab was, removed the carpeting on the rear wall and in the 'creases' I glued some half inch thick wooden strips. once that was dry I put the carpet back up and screwed my mdf into those strips through the carpet. Make sure you rough of the metal pretty well so the glue grabs hold.
