tried starting my truck this morning and it didn't. 2000 gmc sierra 1500. poured gas in throttle body several times and turned over it finally started. died out once and restarted on the road. don't have a scanner to pull codes. what makes this happen? have fuel pumping but won't let it start. can it be sensors or security issues?

Fuel or spark... you say your getting fuel, but are you getting enough? Check your fuel pressure. It doesn't sound like a security issue. Could be a large number of things but without codes, we're only guessing.

Almost all parts stores have a scan tool. I know here Advance Auto has one and you can borrow it by leaveing a credit card with them if you can't take the car there.

put a fuel pressure gauge on the schrader and see what you have, sounds like a weak fuel pump.
