Gold Emblem Options

so now that the mod bug has hit and is in full swing I need some help.

I hate, absolutely despise, the gold emblems on my truck which are found on the front, tailgate and wheels. I have seen some people polish them silver which I like but honestly I don't want to spend that much time on the dam things. I also know you can replace the front bowtie but it's pricey. So my question is: can I use paint thinner to remove the gold or any other simple tricks?

Front one can be removed and painted any color you want. All the others can be painted to, just tape em off good and pick a color you like. Rear can be removed completely with dental floss. The ones on the wheels dont have to be polished just use a dremel to remove the gold paint. Its silver underneath.

I have to agree with you, they look much better without the "gold." I tried paint thinner and acetone with no luck, and I was real worried about removing the black paint around the bowtie. Scrubbing off the gold with a red scotch brite seemed to be the best way to me, and it really didn't take that long, maye a 2 beer job.

I used a dremmel yesterday and they looked like "brushed" aluminum.

i'm not going to bother with making them smooth. I also painted over the gold emblem on the mud flaps to make them all black and bought some vinyl stickers for the front and rear emblems. much cheaper.

will get some tomorrow. I did go to pick up my truck at the dealer and bought the vinyl decals to cover the front and rear. DO NOT waste your money, they absolutely SUCK.
