Tire Problem On 2002 Silverado

I recently bought 18 inch rims and without prior knowledge I wanted the same tire I had on the truck. I dont like things to rub or lose my ability to turn so I just adjusted tire size to make fit.

 

I went from 295/75/16 Load Range D to a 285/65/18 Load Range E

 

When I ordered the tire I didnt think anything about the load range but I knew a bigger rim would be a stiff ride.

 

 

I am now sitting with a sore ass and 2000 dollar wheels and tires on my truck. I'd rather burn these things than drive them to the beach again. I have my old 16 inch oem rims and the old 295's.

I was wondering how much could i get out of 18inch rockstars and what would be the best A/t Radial that would be smooth ride on my truck. I liked the 295/75/16 BF Goodrich AT I am wondering if i could stay around the same size and get something 6ply?
