Dash Noise

A/C works great. But I get a noise from behind the dash. SOunds like a hamster running on a wheel pr a cycling solenoid.

 

It is NOT affected by the fan speed. But if you slide the cool/heat control knobs up a little it seems to quit making the noise.

 

But all the way down in fully cold mode it makes the repetitive groink groink groink... Not really loud, but enough to aggravate a fellow.

 

I dropped the glove box and you can hear that the noise is coming from the plastic enclosure behind the dash.... above where you would service the cabin air filter.

 

Anybody dealt with this before?

Maybe a HVAC actuator. Do a search on this forum. If you remove the fuse. It can reset it....Look up the proper procedure on here. Hope it works. ya might have to replace the actuator.????

does it sound like marbles rolling around in a coffee can? i get it if its really humid at idle speeds...thats the compressor...otherwise i get a nice thump at idle with th ac on when the compressor kicks on

Sounds like the air mix door actuator.
