Fuel Pump Changed

Recommended Posts

Well I had a fuel pump die on my '03 Denali XL over the weekend. Of course it was full of fuel when it died :)

I have owned this truck for over a year and I can say without hesitation, it has never run this well. My parents own an '03 Suburban with the 5.3 and I always thought it seemed at least as peppy as my 6.0 but not now. You guys might want to get the fuel pressure gauge out and check yours to see where it is. Mine was only 26lbs when it would run and then would drop to below 10 in a few minutes. I wish I would have checked it when I bought the truck. I feel it was never 55psi the whole time I owned it. It pulls hills in overdrive now that it never would before. Just thought I would share the info.

ps: there are WAY more hoses under this thing than the '96 model I put a pump in LOL

Glad you got er fixed! Fuel Pump failure is very common on GM trucks. Very important not to let the tank go below 1/4 as the fuel also serves as a cooling method for the pump. If the pump gets to hot, it will start to fail. I went thru it on my 99. :)
