The subject truck was purchased 01/25/2011 and is 100% stock. There are no aftermarket electronics of any kind being used in the vehicle. The navigation system has malfinctioned from day one. Erroneous driving directions are not uncommon. The system seems to get lost and has directed me to turn down dead end streets that will not lead to the destination. Destinations typically are entered manually since I have been told that OnStar directions cause problems with the navigation according to GM engineering. I have created a video of the system malfunctioning, it can be viewed at

I Should add that my dealer has replaced the head unit but that has made no difference. The Nav disc is version 6.0c, p/n 20940248 which to my knowledge is the latest available.

Can you help?

Try a new Nav dic.

Thanks, Walt but there is no newer disc. Those things are only updated annually as far as I know so there won't be a new disc until sometime later this year.

I think he meant to try another disc, same year... or an earlier version (earlier year) :dunno:

That was done (same p/n) with no affect. I don't know that earlier versions are available but will ask the dealer.

My Nav system worked perfect for over a year- no problems at all. But I took a trip down south a few mounts ago and there was one area that I went thru that was completely wrong on the built in nav map. There were roads that were on the map that were not really there and there were roads that were really there and not on the nav map. After about 10 miles the maps were 100% right again. I noticed that on my return trip that the same place was mixed up as before. I think that there are some places that the built in maps are wrong and that would lead to possible routing problems. I hope that these areas will be corrected in the newer map discs. I know that my nav unit is fine because it works perfectly at all other times. Maybe when the new disc comes out your nav problems will be solved. Someone told me that you can call and report map problems but I don't know for sure.

Rich,

You don't by chance have the wrong zone put in. I think I read something in the Nav instructions that you have to pick the zone you're in in the US. In fact, the salesman programed mine 2 weeks ago and programed the area of the US we are in.

I have found an error on my frist disc that is on the second newer one also. A secondary hiway has a slight curve in it that the nav calls a turn. It markes it and tells you to turn. On the newer disc there is a place on I-70 west of Kansas City that it tells you to exit, takes you maybe a half mile then turns you around and puts you back on interstate.

Yes, the zone has been set correctly. It was wrong initially and when I discovered that hope was that was the problem but no joy.
