CD player & Instrument lights (dash)

I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado, two problems that have recently occurred that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on (literally).

1) Dash or instrument cluster lights are out. The warning lights, high beam lights, etc, still work. The lights on the radio no longer work nor do the ones that light up the panel. Is there a fuse for this or am I looking at replacing something inside the dash itself? If so, does anyone have the procedure to do this? I did an exhaustive internet search that yielded no results.

2) I have the remote CD player (the style located just below the AM/FM cassette deck) that constantly wants to eject the CD. Anyone else have this problem? What did you do to correct? I looked into buying a replacement on Ebay, but I'm hoping it is something simple.

Thanks for bearing with me on my first post!

hey-the only thing i can tell you is if it an't one of the 4 or 5 fuses that all work together on the lighting system --then you might have to replace the headlight switch  -- which isn't  too bad---only 40.00 bucks for  one  from gm --i just replaced in my 2000 gmc-- i lost my lights the same way---as far as  doing the replacement--it's a breeze--only about 5 min's work on mine----hope this helps         troyrobo  :thumb:

Thanks Troy. It was indeed the headlight switch which fixed up as easy as you said. Anyone have any ideas on the CD player issue? Thanks again!

For the CD player, have you cleaned the laser with one of those CD player cleaning discs?  It has been my experience that a dirty laser will cause the disc to eject.
