Aluminum Or Non-aluminum Lower Control Arms?

which do i have on my 2010 lt silverado? the RC website has 2 kits for the 2" level kit, i need to specify what type of lca are on my truck. can anyone tell me?

Unless its a 6.2,Hybrid,or 2wd XFE model,chances are you don't have aluminum lower control arms,but to be sure take a look at the color of yours,if they are Black you don't have them,if they are Silver you do.

sorry - forgot to specify... 5.3l, 4x4... everything is black under there so i'll assume non-aluminum.

Try and put one of the magnets off your fridge onto the control arm. If it sticks, it's not aluminum.

Sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead, but I have a question.

 

What is the advantage or disadvantage of the aluminum control arm vs what was on the 5.3?

advantage; lighter

disadvantage; if off road use I feel safer with steel. Maybe I am just being cautious

 

I do wonder why it matters because when i received my kit it was like plastic.
