S 10 Transmission Problems

i have a 1997 gmc sonoma and the other day the tranny slipped in first gear and then violently caught and took off doing a burn out. i was wonderin gif any one has had this problem before, the truck has a 4.3l auto trans with the push button 4 wheel, im wondering if it is possible that the actuator is stuck half ass between 4 and 2 or if the tranny is just screwed, it has done it a couple of times since then and it is also making a winding noise, also is a transmission from a 95 s10 with the same engine and 4 wheel drive compatable. thanks

Your transmission squealing is never a good thing, it would be a bearing inside. Squealing usually comes from drive belts. Mines never slipped, try a Lucas transmission fix in case it's a sticky valve. If it still slips, take it into a local mechanic. Unless you're confident enough you know what your doing to fix it.

my truck did that when i first got it but i flushed it with trash fluid then replaced it with royal purple fixed it right up. however i have a syncro now going bad in second : /
