Simple Sonoma Mods/ Short Throw Shift!

I purchased my 2002 GMC Sonoma earlier today... so far so good and it seems to be a pretty nice little truck! Nothing special about it (so far) it has the 2.2L matched with the 5-speed trans, the truck is practically new with just over 23,000 miles on it and cleanest 2002 on the street. I got it for a steal and have plans to sell it but i am very interested to see what simple mods i can do to the truck. this is my first manual and its great!!! but i would love to find out if i can install a short through shifter (even though the stock shifter is solid and very tight) i also would like any advise on lifting my truck... Its a 2 wheel drive but i know it can be done!

Isn't the shifter short enough? Lol, I personally would do anything shifter wise to the 4banger, maybe a simple air intake, I guess and single out exhaust system and other than that I would not lift that truck, even though its a 4cyl they still don't get the best of mileage unless you don't care for that, then lift er' high......

The shifter is pretty short as is... i just really like the look of the Hurst short throw! anyway im not looking for a crazy lift i have alot of space left in my wheel weld and im looking to put larger wheels and tires on for a more aggressive look. i was thinking about an inch and a half lift... around that range (maybe i can do that with larger shocks). by the way thanks for responding and South C is sweet i got family there i love visiting every year!
