Exhaust Question

Hi all,

I have a 99 4.8l Sierra ext cab truck.  I'm wanting to add dual exhaust to this truck, and give it that good flowmaster sound.  But Since we(wife,5yr,4yr) use this truck on vacation, daily driving and etc.

So which dual outlet exhaust from flowmaster will give me a good sound/tone at idle and when you get on it,, but will not make is too loud inside for them.   I wouldn't care about interier sound, but i'm sure my wife will.

Thanks!

I had a 40 series on my 4.8 and it was barely noticeable w/ the windows rolled up, but it provided enough of a rumble.  You may want a 50 series or something even more mellow.

But, whatever you pick you'll definetly be happy with the results.

My friend has the 70 series on his truck.  Almost un-noticable inside but still enough authoatative sound outside to let everyone know it's not stock.  Of course the higher the revs, the better it sounds...

If you can see the trend here, the lower the "series" number is the louder the sound.  The higher the number the quieter the sound...

I have the 70 series on my truck and I love em'. Just like shaners said not too noticable inside but makes and nice tone outside. I also had the 40 series on my truck sounds awesome but way too much resonance inside the cab. (got on my nerves after awhile.)

Thanks for all the replies!

I'm thinking at this time i'll not go with a dual exhaust.  Would I lose anything if I just replace the factory muffler with the flowmast and us the factory exhaust for now?   and if so what is the size of the factory exhaust pipe on a 4.8l?

Thanks again!
