Stock Ranchos Vs. Bilstein 5100

I have the stock Rancho shocks that come with the Z71 Appearance Pkg. and I think they are slightly too stiff for me liking. How do the Bilstein 5100 shocks compare to the stock Ranchos?

 

I am looking for a firm ride without being too harsh when I hit potholes or drive washboarded roads. Are there any other shocks that you would recommend?

anything you get from factory isnt going to be as nice as something like 5100's alot of people i know have put them on their tahoes and like them, personaly iv never been a fan of ranchos, i have them as well on my silverado, id make the change, it will still be a comfortable ride but defiantly a nicer shock

I had the factory (non Rancho) NHT large diameter shocks and they let the truck bounce around on the freeway like a bobblehead. Mushy frontend felt like it was half out of control at 70 mph. I put in 5100s all the way around and have been very happy. But the choppy ride is from the rear springs and light rear end of the truck. If I load the rear down with 500lbs, it rides nice. The front 5100s are just right IMO.

 

I haven't been around any Rancho shocks in so long my opinion of them wouldn't matter.

Does anyone know if the stock shocks, Ranchos or regular Z71, are twin or monotubes?

Stock Z71's are monotube. Don't know about the regular 4x4.
