How Many Of You Run "e" Rated Tires

Just wondering because I am trying to decide on an AT tire in a 285/18 and everything is all e rated , yet my truck came with P rated Bridgestones 265/65/18. I am afraid to make such a drastic leap to an E . I would prefer a C or D .

You shouldnt notice that much difference between a C, D, or E. However, you will notice the difference from the P to the E. I actually prefer the LT rated tires because they give more side to side stability because of the stiffer sidewall. You will most likely notice more small bumps in the road, but its wont be teeth rattling.

 

You also have to remember, a taller tire with a larger sidewall will have a softer ride than a shorter tire of the same load rating. Granted, your 285 E rated tires will not ride as smooth as the 265 P tires do, but it will ride smoother than the 245 E rated tires that come on the HD trucks.

I've always run E rated tires on my trucks. They seem to last longer than P rated tires. They are a bit stiff but not as bad as you'd think. But I don't run mine at 80 PSI either!

Yep run E-rated, but just do 35 PSI.. Theres no need to run them any higher than that, unless the load you are hauling calls for it. You shouldnt be hauling that much anyways with 1/2 ton.

I always ran mine at 45psi just to keep the wear even. Sometimes they will wear on the edges and not the center if you are running a wider tire without enough air.
