I have a 2008 GMC Sierra about a month ago I was driving and turned off the blower for the A/C and it started to blow a mist out of the vents has anyone ever had this happen to them before just got back from the dealer and the tech. there told me there is nothing they can do about it

Lol by a mist do you mean it looked like there was fog coming out of the vents? I know here in SC, its the only state besides Tn that will make my vents fog like that, in Tx they never fog. So could be a humidity issue or you might be low on refrigerant.

I took the truck into the dealer two times now and they said it was a water mist and today they said there is nothing that I can do about it

Sounds perfectly normal. When you shut off the AC you are also shutting off the dehumidifier. When the cold air that is remaining in the ductwork blows out of the vent, it hits the humid air in the cab and the moisture in the air will begin to condense. Should only happen for a minute or 2, until all of the cold air is purged from the ductwork.

It's just funny that it just started doing this about a month ago never did it before I talked to a GM Tech. about it and they are going to look into it they said that it shouldn't be doing that at all so I'll see what happens with that

The condensation drain may be plugged. Does it leak water on the ground (right under the passenger side firewall) after you park the truck? On a humid day, you may get a cup of water out of there. If it's dry under your truck after parking, you found your problem.

yeah that was the 1st thing I checked before I took the truck in to have it looked at

sorry should of told you that it was not plugged water was coming out of it also check it again today after I got home from work and it drips out good leaves a good size puddle under the truck

I was just thinking....... I wonder if you could be having that blower motor resister problem? When you shut off the blower, it shouldn't be blowing anything..... If it's still blowing, that resister could be getting red hot, melted the contacts and the fan may be still getting power. The mist could be steam from condensation hitting the hot resistor.

 

While you are at the dealer, tell him that your fan won't shut off (at times) and they should do that resistor recall for free.
