westex39 Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 About 3 weeks ago I started our 2001 chevy Tahoe 5.3L engine. As soon as it started it ran up to 3000 rpm. Normally it only goes up to about 1300 rpm. Well, this problem has never reoccurred. However, this morning I try to start it and it won't start. It would sound like it was going to start but as soon as you turn loose of the key it dies. I tried this about 5 times. I cycled the throttle pedal to the floor and released it. Tried to restart and it did the same thing. I then depressed the throttle about 1/4 of the way and it started and ran at about 1500 rpm. As soon as I let the throttle return to idle it died. Anyway, I waited about a hour and tried it again. It started and ran normally. It never did set the check engine light. does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
Shaners Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 That happened to me once with my 6.0L. I could only start it with about 1/4 throttle, and it ran very rough. I had to hold the brake and the gas at the same time to drive it. After I shut down and restarted after a short trip, everything was OK and it hasn't happened since... :thumb:
