2010 Bose Nav Only - No Dvd - What Will Lockpick Do For Me?

Hi all,

 

I have a 2010 Sierra SLT with Nav. I do not have a DVD system where you can watch movies but the nav disc is on DVD that is in a DVD player that is behind the touch screen.

 

I have been thinking about adding a backup camera to my Nav screen but I am being told that I need a lockpick to do it.

 

The problem is that I don't care about the stuff that lockpick give me, I mean being able to add addressed while drivein or whatever else it does.

 

Other than those things and allowing me to add a backup camera does lockpick give me anything else? I've read that I can add another video source (like an iPod) and watch it on the Nav screen? Does it also allow me to watch DVD's on the Nav screen (even though I don't have the DVD entertainment system?

The one from costaltech wil allow you to add front and rear cameras and turn them on at will. It doesnt have a third video with audio input

um the NAV DVD player won't play movie or music discs.

 

 

and FYI if you have NAV, you have a DVD player.. the top slot will play DVD movies on the nav screen with the vehicle in park, the lockpick allows it when moving, and you can add front and rear cameras and an overhead screen for the rear passengers if you so desire.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure I tried to play a DVD in there when I first got the truck and it did not work but I will try again.

 

So if this is the case, do I really need a lockpick to add a backup camera? From what I've read the lockpick gives me an RCA component video connector...I am quite capable of soldering a component video cable into the factory wiring harness or adding a wire if needed.

The GM navigation unit must be marked DVD on the left bottom of the face plate. This unit is only OEM supplied with the rear entertainment system.

Non rear entertainement trucks only get the non-DVD version of the nav unit. To get DVD movie capability, one must have a nav unit marked DVD on the left bottom front.

The LockPick will not allow a DVD to be played in a nav unit not marked DVD on the left bottom front.

this is something I did not know, as every GM nav I have seen with or without the rear TV was able to play DVDs on the front screen..
