Cargo Management System And Tonneau Cover

I just purchased a 2009 GMC Sierra Crew Cab. I want to get an Access tonneau cover for this truck and am also contemplating getting the CMS. I'm really interested in the small side tool boxes that work with the CMS. My question is, with those tool boxes in place, will a tonneau cover still be able to be closed, or even installed?

 

Also, instead of a CMS with the tool box, is there an OEM storage unit that can be placed under the rear seat of the crew cab?

I don't see why not....the tool boxes will sit lower than the top of the bed.

I was just curious if anyone has done this. Wondered if the rails for the tonneau would interfere with the rails of the CMS, and where exactly the top of the tool box is in relation to the bed rails (flush with the bed rails, slightly below, etc.)

I have the CMS with two small toolboxes, and a GM tri-folding tonneau cover. There is no interference between the two. In fact, the boxes sit about an inch below the top edge of the bed, so I would think there would be many options for you.

Just talked with a guy that works at the local Chevy dealership. He didn't know for sure, so he called someone at GM Acesssories. He was told that the CMS and small tool box would work with GM tonneau covers, but were unlikely to work with other tonneau covers. Said the main difference being that the GM tonneau cover goes over the bed rails while most other ones do not.

I have the underseat storage and I'll tell you it really makes a difference. I had a Tacoma before this truck and really didn't want to give up the roll and tumble rear seats. The underseat storage is easily 2x more space than the Tacoma's.

GM box fits fine under the Trifecta tonneau cover:

I did have to modify the clamps, though as you can see in the pic below. The tonneau cover clamps won't reach the underside of the bedrail as the CMS gets in the way:
