Front End Airbag Sensor 2

Recently had the "service air bag" message come up. This is on my 05 Sierra 1/2 ton crew.

Managed to locate a scanner that will show airbag codes, and it appears to be one of the 2 front bumper sensors (which I believe are mounted on the rad supports). The code read "front end sensor 2 fault"

Can anyone help me determine which sensor this would be (driver/passenger) and any tips for replacing if I have to. I have read that some pull both the airbag fuse as well as unplug the battery for a while before playing with the sensor.

Im hoping some recent rough road may have loosened the harness or something.
If it turns out to simply be a bad connection, will this "service air bag" message clear itself after a few ignition cycles once it determines if the sensor is working fine or is this a trip to the dealer to reset the code?

I think the airbag sensors are the same just buy one and try one until its good also check the connection to make sure its good

yes, the part number appears to be the same (10370149), just not sure exactly where they are located...

Very common. I'm willing to bet that the connector did not came loose, as they have an orange saftey clip to secure them. I replaced the right one on my wife's 05 Suburban, and 3 months later the left one went out. The part is about 1 3/4" long by 1" or so. The code you are getting is the right side (passenger). Both left and right sensors are identical. It's hard to explain where they are located, but I will try. They are on a cross member about 2 to 3 feet from the front bumper, and 2 feet from the tires. The easiest way to find them is to look for the yellow and orange connector. You need to take the orange saftey clip out first, then take the yellow connector off. There is one bolt that goes through the center of the sensor. Take it out, and replace with new one. Real easy. Be sure to pull the air bag fuse out that's in the engine compartment first (No need to do the battery). Good Luck!

Do u know off hand if the code will clear itself over time, or am I going to need another scanner...?

It will clear itself, or at least mine did. The airbag light flashes like 7 times every time you start it. This is a self test. When it seees that everything is ok, it should clear the code. Good luck.
