Silverado Directional Problem

Just wondering if any one else has had this problem. I have a nbs 2007 Silverado. I changed out the rear tail lights and for a few months they were working fine. Now the right directional blinks fast yet there is no lights out. Can this be remedied by just replacing the electronic flasher. It is anywhere between $45- $102 so I need to make a good decision before forking out that dough!

Did you change bulbs or the whole housing? If you have new housings put the stockers back in and see if the problem goes away. Many of the aftermarket tails are of questionable quality.

The 07 and ups do not have flasher assemblies. They are controlled by the BCM and the flash rate is determined by the amount of resistance in the wires. If you changed to LED assemblies, the probably have resistors built in to provide the correct signal and one has gone bad. The BCM thinks that a bulb is out because the resistance is too low and is flashing fast to tell you. Put the stock one back in and check the blink rate. If normal, you have a bad tail light assembly. Any warranty with the new lights?

A fix for this is to have the dealer program your BCM like the truck was a model without a bed and has the square rear light assemblies. This will tell the BCM to flash at a set rate and it will ignore the resistance signal.

Does your cruise still work?

I will try the old ones first. I wonder if I add a resistor that I bought for a motorcycle if that would help? There is a limited lifetime on the tail lights from Depot Lighting. I may try the dealer option though! Never thought of just reprogramming. Thanks!
