A local store was having a 1/2 off on all Carhartt coats.  I picked up a "StoneDuck Detroit Jacket" for $40.  It's Teal with a tan collar.  It's one of the "short waisted" jackets and has a "blanket" type lining...

Those Carhartt coats are great for all around bumming around...

Great Gift, I've got my leather Jacket for work but when the weather drops I've got my nice big carhart jacket.  They are great.  I think I picked mine up last year on sale for like 50 bucks from a hundred something.

On sale is about the only way to buy Carhartt stuff because it is way to expensive at its normal price.  I have been buying Key overalls and jackets for the most part, especially since my grandma works and a farm supply store and can get me discounts.  I get some pretty good stuff at a great price.  But thanks for reminding me of this, because now that it has finally gotten cold here (20F right now) I need to go get me a new one.  The old coat is too small.

I can assure you mine won't be teal though, brown duck or the light tan for me.   :D

Carhartts are great, but very $$$.  I have two of them, one for the coat I wear everywhere in the winter as its insulated and a nice dark brown color, the other an uninsulated tan one that I wear to farm type things in the fall or spring.  I have a generic one that I wear for work that I got free, does the job but it isn't as tough.  I'm hoping to find a new Carhartt on sale to replace it soon.  My insulated work bibs are Wall, also a good product, but they are getting pretty $$$ now when they used to be cheap.  I'm thinking half off for one is a pretty dang good deal.

Paco, what kind of idiot are you?    ???

Jp,

This place runs 1/2 off sales all the time on Carhartt stuff.  They may even have their own website, but I'd have to check on it.  They have a store about 4 miles from my house.  If you ever want a new coat or bibs, get me a size and style and I'll send it to you and you can reimburse me.  Their stuff is all first quality (no factory seconds).

The coat I got my wife was listed at $80.  I'm guessing most places would sell it for $60-$70.  I payed $40 onsale...

I get my Carharrt jackets and most of my Carharrt pants from Cabelas.  They always run big clearence sales in April on all of their lined jackets, pants and bibs.  I try and buy then for the coming winter because otherwise you will pay top $$$ in October.  A little tip for the thrifty -  :D
