Droid And Usb Port

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Silverado with the USB port.

When I had my Iphone 4G I would connect it to the USB port and the music would play. I could scroll through the lists and everything was fine.

I "upgraded" to a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket today from an Iphone 4G and the USB port in the truck does nothing but charge the phone.

Is there a problem with Droid Phones and the USB port?

I'm an absolute n00b to Droid. I've been using Iphones for years. I'm tired of them and wanted something different.

THe LTE on this thing flies. Surfing is as fast as being on a PC. I know I can get the 2mm jack and use the AUX port to play music but I'd like to get the USB port working.

Any Ideas?

Why not continue using the old Iphone for your music? It will charge and play? I was using my phone but decided to use an ipod for the music instead.

I think you can make it work, but need to have the music player loaded when you plug it in.

With the SGS2, you have to enable file sharing when you plug it into a PC. I would image you would have to do the same for your deck. When you plug it in, you should be able to drag down the message screen from the top and see something about enabling the USB Drive port.

See if that does it.

I never had music on my droid but you might try setting it to act as an external drive when prompted.

Yes I did that.

I used the cable that came with the phone.......If said unsupported device on my stereo.

I pulled down the menu and tried to sync the USB, it turned orange then went away.

Mind you this is the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket.

I've had nothing but issues with it. I cannot even get Samsung Kies to work because its not supported. And there are no windows drivers yet.

And I cannot even register it with Samsung because they don't recognize the IEMI number??

So their own software doesn't work with it, registration doesn't work, USB doesnt work in my truck but bluetooth does......

Double twist did work....I did get some of my music on it.

The LTE.......

Speed test showed 26meg download ....faster than my home. It hauls ass on this phone. Its a surfing dream.

Anyhow I have over 350 contacts that have been destroyed with no hope of fixing them from Outlook 2010. I just can't sync with it yet.

It does work via Google and my Calendar is looking ok just my Outlook Calendar is fubard.

I see no way to make this work with the USB port. At all.

Well my wife had a 3gS so I gave her my old 4G phone so she could upgrade.

I've ordered an Iphone 4s to use in my truck.

Wow, the S2 you have sounds like a real pita. I have the Att version and so far it has been good. Dont know much about the 2011's, do the factory decks have bluetooth? I would say you could go A2DP if it supports it.

I havent tried plugging in my S2 to my advent deck. Might do that next I am out there and thinking about it.

But if you want a detected device for music you could save some money and just buy a good ol ipod classic off ebay used. Thats what I do since it never comes out of the truck.

Wondering if anybody has anything new on this. My Iphone 3G worked just fine on the USB outlet. My new Droid Bionic wont work. I have tried different settings on the phone to no avail.
