Throttle Position Sensor

Driving my truck yesterday the message "engine power reduced" flashed on the dash. At that point I couldn't exceed 30MPH. The engine was by no means overheating as the owner manual states. I had the code read and it came up as the "Throttle Position Sensor". Has this happened to anyone else and if soe is this an easy repair.

and the repair is done after the diagnoses is done for the trouble code and what repair is indicated from the diag.

 

its not just the TPS that can fail

your probably going to need a throttle body. pretty common failure on these trucks

get it diagnosed first

 

if its bolted to the engine powertrain warraanty covers it ,you have lots left

this sounds like what happened to my 03 5.3. it was the gas pedal position sensor just didnt say hi fast enuff cause after i had a friend clear the code it has yet to come back... just check the code go from there. sometimes the GM check engine light likes to say hi for no reason.. but i had the same situation, no power and took forever to hit 30 mph i think it maxed out at like 45 ...
