I thought folks would cut back on talking on cell phones (holding it to ear) when state law went into effect making it illegal.. I saw a lady yesterday smoking talking on her cell phone, she had troubles driving (was turning corner)... she was jerking and trying to keep everything going, I was waiting for her to drop her cigarette into her lap and then see what happened...

I must say I love the built in bluetooth in my Sierra. It works great

Speaking of the bluetooth where is the microphone for it located. I looked through the book and couldn't find it.

Almost daily I follow someone weaving and driving erratically often at 10-20 miles under the speed limit. I usually try to make it game to figure out if they have a cell phone stuck in their ear or are they drunk. Not much difference in the final result.

I hate to point out a specific gender, but 9 out of 10 times when I am pulling up to an intersection and a car cuts me off short of the stop sign it is a woman on a cell phone! In fact I would be pretty confident in saying that 90% of the close calls that I have had in the last year have involved a woman on a cell phone...

Back when I had my '03 my exhaust exited in front of the pass. rear tire. A member of that 90% almost hit me and we ended up at a red light, her right at my back axle. I honked as I nearly ran her little Miata over and at the light she looked at gave me a nasty/pissed face and continued to have a conversation on the phone. Truck when into neutral and I kept the pedal so it was at like 3-4000 RPMs until she hung up.

I was darn near run off the highway yesterday by a young kid texting. I tried kicking the Suburban in the ass to get around him, kid speeds up so I cant get around (backed off the throttle near 85mph). A few miles later he almost ran me off the road again, I could clearly see he was texting both times. I was so mad I wanted to run his little Escape clean off the road. WTF people, put it down while behind the wheel.....

My wife doesn't understand why I don't like talking on the phone if I am driving, I put it on speaker but still don't like talking on the phone while driving. The other day she called me (while she was driving) and was all pissed off because some lady on her cell phone almost hit her. I wanted to point out the irony but one thing I have learned is knowing when to pick your battles. Where I live it is only illegal to use cell phone in school zones and to do anything other then talk on a cell most everywhere else.

I like the ones that try and read a book while driving.

I actually had a lady pull up next to me the other day and she was reading a big hard back book and drinking a cup of coffee. I have no idea how she was driving with both hands full. Oh, and she did have her cell in her cup holder so at least she wasn't on the phone.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
