undercover bedcovers

I'm looking at buying an Undercover bedcover in the next few days but need some opinions on the classic model. For those who have had or know someone who's had them, how do they look over the long term? My main concern over buying the classic is the fading since it's just black instead of painted. I have an opportunity to buy a painted white ses cover or the black classic for the same price. I know Undercover sells a spray cleaner/protectant and I think there's another product that does the same for black plastic items.

Also what do ya'll think would look better an all white truck with white cover? Or white truck with a black cover to break up all the white? I know it's personal preference but just seeing what the general feeling is out there. Thanks

I had an UnderCover on my Silverado SS, and now have one on my Denali. I like them. The one on my SS held up for years with no special treatment at all. It appears that they put some sort of clear "laminate" (for lack of a better description) over the black, so it is protected. Also, depending on what type of taligate cap you have, you may also have to replace that with one that does not have a spoiler, or lip. I had to do that on both of my trucks as well.

As to the color question, that's tough because it's really personal preference. I would not mind a black tonneau on a white truck. Maybe somebody has some pictures to share. My truck is black, so that wouldn't be much help to you.

I've had one on my 06 since new and it has held up very well. It has stayed new looking with no fading and I only use soap and water to clean it. I have a red truck with the black cover and I think it looks good with the other black trim on the truck.

I can mirror Hank's opinions. My truck is black also. I've had my black plastic Undercover since 2007 and I can't really say it's faded much at all. If it does...I'll work on it with some Mothers Back-to-Black.

It's been a durable cover for me and I like it a lot. Functionally, I only have 2 gripes:

1.) Due to the skeletal framework on the underside...I lose about 2" of interior height in the bed. I can live with it but it can get annoying if I'm hauling something taller (like the mini-fridge I bought 3 weeks ago), and I can't close the cover the whole way down.

2.) The locks are OK...but not ideal. A persistent evil-doer could break them in a short amount of time if they really wanted to.

Good luck!!

i sell the hell out of these covers and have only ever had issues withi people tryin to tie them down with large items inside, they're easily removable for a reason so you can take it off and leave it at home. had one fly off in a tornado, one someone warped with a ratchet strap tying it down, and other than that NO issues, they are a great cover and yes if someone wants to get into it badenough they can, but the same can be said for the rest of the truck...glass breaks just as easy as plastic

White truck, White cover in my opinion. You can get an idea here from the pics in my gallery although I have a Leer 550.

I was between the Leer and Undercover, I liked the fact the undercover is light and easy to remove, but the leer I can leave open and drive. Don't like to do that but will if I need to.

leaving the leer open to drive and leaving the undercover open to drive is no different...both will mess up the hinges and cover if done enough or a strong wind comes along...

How do the locks work on these covers? On the classic is it just a twist lock with a latch? What kind of lock does the SES model have since it's in the center?

I tried to meet both sellers tomorrow but it looks like I may have to wait until Friday for both since they're out of town. Maybe I can get by a local dealer to check them out.
