Any good Valentine-1 mounts out there?

Hey all,

I've got one V1 that I share between my Vette and '02 Tahoe.  The V1 is hardwired in my Vette, and I've got a nifty "Great Lakes" visor mount in the Vette.  Unfortunately, I've been having to use the crappy suction cup mount (that really isn't all that crappy in itself, but is a pain) in the Tahoe, and I'm tired of it.

I'm tired of having to take it down and put it up, and having to clean the windshield on the inside from the marks it leaves.

The visor mount in the Vette keeps the V1 almost invisible to anyone outside of the car.  The "stock" V1 visor mount that came with the V1 doesn't want to sit properly in the Tahoe -- the visor tilts too far upward at rest so that the V1 points down too far.

So... I'm wondering if there's a semi-permanent (somewhat "fixed" holder for the V1 (and Tahoe) that allows easy removal of the V1, but not it's MOUNT.

What are you all using?

Thanks!

I am working on a mount that attaches to the rearview mirror.  I have the power coming from my overhead console and run parallel to the wires for the dimming mirror.  I will post pictures of it as soon as I get a chance.   :thumb:

I have mine hardwired above the rear view mirror way up almost to the top of the windshield just to the left of the roof console using the V1 suction cup mount ... the V1 also sort of rests on the top of the mirror for just a tad added stability.  If careful the V1 can still be removed from the mount w/o removing the suction cup mount.  It's been riding fine up there for >2yrs, but it has fallen down a few times when parked in very high TX heat ... I finally cleaned the windshield and cups then moistened them and it's been nice and stuck ever since.

Thanks for the replies, folks!

Sounds like there's nothing specific for us out there.  I might just have to fashion something like the Corvette mount for the Tahoe...

Thanks!

Hey KMeloney,

Post some pics and an explanation of your mount once you finish.  I'd be interested to see what you came up with, and so would others here.

Thanks.

BTW if you plan to hardwire it also spring for the extra remote display ... on both my old 98 Z28 and current 01 Tahoe I mounted the remote display with velcro on the steering column - it's a perfect location - after hearing the warning just look down to see the direction and your speed.

If I get a digital cam for xmas (unlikely) I'll post some pix :wtf:
