Mike Meyer Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 What kind of mileage improvements have you seen with an exaust and/or air intake change? Also, any difference in mileage with larger tires? Mike
SilveradoWV Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 I went from 245/75/16's to 265/75/16's with a 1mpg loss or less.
BDBWTE Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 I reprogrammed my computer with a Superchip..put Duals, K&N Filter Charger II and 285's and I get right around 12-13mpg out of the 6.0L motor
Stepside Z Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 I had a Gibson cat back exhaust and a K&N FIPK as well as 285 BFGs on my 2001 Silverado and I ended up with the same milage but lots more power.
Shaners Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 Bigger tires will raise the truck so more wind resistance = less mpg's. It's probably fractional by it is still true. Keep in mind if you don't recalibrate your speedo/odometer, you won't be recording the actual number of miles traveled per tank. You'll have to figure in the variables of the larger tires and take that into acount when you fill up the tank and check your mpg's. You will record fewer miles on your odometer than what you actually traveled. A K&N or UPD should add about 1/2 mpg's under best curcimstances along with some increased performance. I don't know about the exhaust because I'm still running the stocker....
