2002 Yukon Clunking Noise

I posted this in the Full Size Truck and SUV section, but that may have been the wrong place.

2002 Yukon here. 5.3L, 190K miles. Meticulusly maintained and runs like a top. I have started getting a clunking noise at takeoff and at stop. It does not do it all the time. When it dose it when I stop it is usually during an abrupt stop and usually does it as the vehicle rocks back. When it does it at takeoff it is usuall right as I start to roll. I have not been able to tell where it is coming from. It seems like maybe the rearend, but not possitive. It is one single clunk when it does it. Any ideas?

Check and grease your driveshaft slip joint at the trans and while you're there check your u-joints

I checked the U joints. There is a little slack in the rear one. There does not seem to be any rotational slack. Just slack of the u joint itself moving in and out of the cups on the yoke. I will change it and see if that fixes the problem. How do I grease the slip joint at the transmission. I guess I was under the assumption that that slip joint was lubed by the transmission oil. Thanks TXAB.
