Mellow Duals?

Recommended Posts

Ok, here comes the new guy. I have a '98 GMC 2500HD 454 Vortec 2wd Ext Cab Long Box. I want to put on cat-back duals and get a mellow rumble, until you stomp on it. Even then, the wife says I can't have the loud rap as in previous trucks. I keep thinking that 'Vettes aren't loud, but they sound really good at speed. Anyone have any info?  Thank, Dusty

Go to www.chevy4x4trucks.com/CMNTMXR81/ and listen to some of my sound clips of my custom true dual setup with two Magnaflow mufflers.  Under light and mid throttle acceleration, my BBC is loud as all ####.  But when the loud pedal is buried in the carpet, it's actually overall quieter than my Z28.

C4 & C5 Vettes sound totally different.  My 95 had Flows and the '02 has Corsas that I like a lot but the Sierra with flows sounds the best IMHO.

C5's and the LS1 due to their cam profile and firing order have a crisp, mature, refined sound to them.  Something more appropriate for a car such as a Corvette and the crowd that buys Corvette's.  A 50 year old Corvette owner doesn't want to pull up to every light sounding like a Big Block with a cam profile so lumpy that it barely idles.  :(

 That is not a true statement
