"Luxury Load of Cars Sinks"

Dec. 15

A Norwegian-registered ship carrying hundreds of luxury cars sank yesterday in the Dover Strait after a collision with a container ship in thick fog.

The cargo ship Tricolor was reportedly carrying 2,862 cars, including BMWs, Volvos and Saabs worth up to $50 million, that were thought to be damaged beyond repair. The container ship was able to head back to port on its own, and all crew members were rescued."

  :flag:  :flag:  :D  :flag:

I read about it but didn't give it much thought.  It's better a load of Bimmers than Yugo's.....The Bimmer crowd can afford the price increase it will result in. :jester:

I heard about it on the news, but it kinda fell by the wayside for me.

Ditto!

I heard it on the radio a while back. I'm sure they have insurance that will cover the incident.

I read the French government was going to require them to refloat the ship so they can clear the shipping lane.  How much do you want to bet there will be some "bargain" BMWs available in a while :-)  I sure wouldn't want to fall victim to one of those "sure to be lemons" with laundered salvage titles.

I bet you are right.  Flooded cars are popular among scammers...

Would flood damage be listed on the title or tagged to the VIN?

most definetly, it's the same as having an accident where there was any type of structural damage, flood damage has to be disclosed.  At least in WI the dealers have to disclose that type of information.

I had heard that they were Jap cars!  To which I was like "send a few subs to finish them off to make sure they don't somehow float to shore!"  No major loss.

I didn't know they were luxury cars.  But still, since they were BMW's...still no major loss.  :(
