Water leak around Thermostat housing (1989)

Recommended Posts

I changed the hoses, flushed the system, replaced the water pump, and replaced the thermostat about 1,000 miles ago. I just noticed the intake manifold has a definte "green" wash on it around the thermostat housing. The upper lip of the housing is damp. Is that the temperature sensor just next to the thermostat housing? I'm going to replace the thermostat and gasket again but is there a problem with the sensor and maybe I should replace it too for good measure?

Thanks.

Double check that hose at the thermostat housing, be sure the clamp is tight and positioned correctly, the hose connection could be seeping when it's cold. If not the hose it is probably the thermostat housing leaking, if you remove it again, while you have it off, remove the old gasket and set it down on a flat surface, does it sit evenly or does it rock like the gasket surface might be distorted, if it seems distorted you may need to replace it to get it to stop leaking.
