For only $15 i picked up a cheapy Haynes manual for my ZR2 yesterday. Its worth it!

It shows how to do everything from spark plugs to brakes, to chaning diff and tranny fluids. Good tips and tricks, and all the tourqe specs as well.  :thumb:

I picked up something similar from Trak Auto.  I can't remember if it's Hayne's or Haye's cause Hayne's is top notch and generally prints the stuff that dealers use.  However these I got leave a lot to be desired.  They tell you the obvious but not anything else.  Some Joe who has no experience with GM vehicles and doesn't know many of the tips and tricks to working on some of their vehicles (*Cough* *Cough* front wheel drive V6's *cough* *cough*) would be absolutley lost.

For instance, I had to replace an O2 sensor on Mother's Monte Carlo.  There instructions were;

1) That the O2 sensors in 96+ OBDII cars has one prior to cat and one aft of cat (no sh*t!)

2) Remove O2 both sensors (duh...really!  Any tips or tricks on how to remove the pre-cat one which is placed in the firewall of the car?  NOPE!)

Had I not known the trick of "rotating" the engine (as GM calls it) I'd be sitting their all day with my thumbs up my a$$

I agree.  The Haynes are good, but sometimes they do too good a job of stating the obvious, and not a good enough job of telling you the info you need for some tricky stuff.
