OGM1: Unable to update iGo Primo maps? SOLVED!

For those that have been unable to update their maps via NaviExtras Toolbox (Toolbox won't recognize your SD card), I wanted to let you know that over the last 24 hours, some of the users in this forum helped to identify the problem, and due to their efforts, NaviExtras should have the solution in place in the NaviExtras Toolbox by next Wednesday, June 6th. Yet again, the guys in this forum and at Advent and NaviExtras have come through in a AMAZING way to solve the problem less than 72 hours after it was identified.

To make a long story short, the root problem is nothing more than the Toolbox program not being aware of a slight change in file structure on the SD card, and since it couldn't find the right files in the right places, it claims the SD card is not recognized. They are fixing it by re-writing the software to recognize the "new" locations of the files on the card.

Big thanks to Bill in Niantic & rpowell911 for your help with this issue!

Can you tell us what the files are, and where do they need to be. Ever since I moved the maps SD to a larger one, navitools cannot see it.

Doug,

At the risk of telling you the wrong thing, if it's OK with you I'd rather everyone wait for the official fix from NaviExtras on the 6th...

Thanks,

I hope this works for the error that shows up when trying to update and backup my card also as I have still not heard from igo after emailing them at least twice. the ogm1 is still an awesome radio, another question i have is can i purchase and use the nav software previous to igo as igo seems to offer no or very little support to the end user.

This will indeed be the fix for the SD card not being read, and the cause was really a very small file path error on their end.

I have to disagree in a small way about your impression of the support they give - once the guys in this forum let us know about the issues and sent screenshots and files confirming them, they were communicated to iGo, and they identified the issue and started on a fix within 72 hours. Although they didn't communicate that fact directly to users, I can't really blame them - I'd much prefer that they work on the fix rather than write me emails - and compared to the reaction we normally see from other manufacturers, this fix happened at lightspeed!

To me, it's just gratifying that collectively, we can actually identify issues, confirm the causes and be part of the solution. Compare that to buying a very buggy, very expensive piece of electronics from a major manufacturer (Pioneer F-900, Kenwood DNX-7020, etc.) and have absolutely ZERO input into product development, bugfixes, suggestions, etc. I know all about that because I've been doing this for 36 years, and I have NEVER seen a manufacturer that listens to their customers and responds as quickly as Advent does regarding their navigation head units. No joke - this is really as good as it gets...

Although I'm sure you could use the version prior to iGo, you may be disappointed, since iGo is an improvement in just about every way you can measure.

Dont get me wrong here, the Advent is an awesome radio, and im not having any issues with the radio at all, my issue is with the igo software, and after talking to Advent and Walt at ADC mobile who was awesome to deal with, but they do not do any type of support issues with the igo software, and I understand that.but saying that if there is an issue and advent cant help and emailing igo with no response what is one to think. but Like i said the Advent ogm1 is far the best nav radio that i have seen for plug and play.
