Dexcool level question

Quick question, I know when refilling the system if there is no coolant in the overflow tank you are suppose to take the cap off an fill it up an then start the truck an let it warm up with the cap off to bleed the line so you can "burp" any air out, according to the manual. So if not mistaken, if there is coolant in the tank and you need to just put an inch or so of fluid in there, it's as simple as taking the cap off when the engine is cool, topping it off, an putting the cap on? I.e. no need to burp air from the system and run the truck with the cap off. The dealer had to do warranty work which required the coolant to be replaced, and it happens they failed to completely fill it to the full cold line, so I picked up some prestone dexcool.

Also, I believe the tanks are pressurized, is there a relief valve somewhere or if not how is the pressure regulated ?

pressure if fromed as the coolant warms so if the engine is cold there shouldn't be any pressure. If you are worried about pressure just take the cap off slowly and do it when the engine is cold.

And yes you can just add more dexcool just make sure it is dexcool or dexcool compatible

You don't state what the warranty work was but after you get the level correct, check it often when the engine is cool and make sure you are not losing coolant somewhere.
