Dealer Threw Me a Bone

My driver's door lock actuator went out on the truck a couple of months ago, but I have been too busy to replace it due to my recent move and retirement. I finally got time to fix it so I went down to the dealer to get the part and replace it myself. When I got there I figured I would talk with the service manager about it to see if there was something he might could do for me. The truck is a 2008 modle and I bought it new in November 2008, and it now only has 28K miles with the last 2K put on during the move. After talking with the service manager about it being a common problem and that I was out of my warrenty by 7 months but still well under the 36K miles, he said he would see what he could do to help. He came back a few minutes later and said he could have it replaced under warrenty. I made an appointment for this morning and was in and out in less than 2 hours. Needles to say I was very happy and impressed with this dealer. They have made a great first impression with me.

Also, on a side note, while I was there I walked the lot to look at the new trucks. I didn't realize that Chevy still made the 2wd Z71 trucks. They had about 10 of them on the lot.

When I bought mine in March, my dealer only had like 4 that were 4wd and the rest of the lot was 2wd. The sales man told me that people were willing to pay more for the 4wd look, but not enough to get the 4wd.

Well I have a 2wd Z71. Didn't buy it for the Z71 package, but just the way the truck looked. Nicer rims, bigger tires and the stance made it look more like a truck rather than the others that it sat beside. I also got $10K off the sticker! Plus it was great driving in North Dakota. Never got stuck, and everyone thought it was 4wd. Their jaws dropped when I said it was only 2wd.

Awesome, that says alot about the dealership. Last year, I took mine to my local dealership because of a noise it started making during a road trip to Vegas. When shifting from 1st to 2nd, a light clunk could be heard and felt.

I was 3,000 under my 36K warranty at that time and was denied because it expired the weekend I was out of town. I literally missed it by two days.
