Navigation System Noise

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a used 2010 Sierra Denali 1500 from a GMC Dealer. There is a noise coming from the area of the Navigation System which sounds like the sound you might hear when CDs change or when trying to locate a track. It occurs for some period of time after turning off the ignition and whenever any of the 4 doors are opened. Never had a vehicle with all the bells and whistles. Is this common and nothing to worry about? One last question, how do you remove the Nav DVD?

The navigation system in this vehicle uses a DVD to store map information. When the system loads data from the disc, you may hear a very slight buzz sound from the navigation system. The sound is similar to that of a CD player seeking through different tracks. This is normal operation and may occur more frequently with the use of XM NavTraffic.

The system turns on when the vehicle is unlocked or remote started, so it is ready to launch when entering the vehicle. The system will shut down completely, a few minutes after the vehicle is locked.

To eject the DVD Map Disc:

1. Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.

2. Touch the Map Database Information screen button.

3. Touch the Change screen button. The screen will tilt, exposing the map DVD slot and the map DVD will eject. Pull the disc out.

4. Touch the Close screen button. The screen will close.

I hope this information is useful; if you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.
