2002 Suburban Suspension Control Module

Let me start by explaining my situation. On my 2002 Suburban I was receiving intermittent Service Ride Control messages for a few months however the autoride system seemed to be working and the compressor would turn on. After a few months the Service Ride Control message finally appeared constantly and the compressor no longer would turn on. The compressor was bad so I replaced it however now the compressor still will not come on. I also have new shocks but do not want to install them until the compressor is working. When installing the compressor I disconnected the battery now the Service Ride Control message is gone. I had the system scanned even though there was no message and they stated that they could not communicate with the Suspension Control Module and they are 98% sure it needs to be replaced. The cheapest I have found a new Suspension Control Module is $650.00. I have found a couple used ones but I want to make sure a used one can be installed. Also is there any programming that needs to be done for the module to work.

So here are my 2 questions.

1. Can a used Suspension Control Module be installed on my 2002 Suburban?

2. Does the Suspension Control Module have to be programmed to work once installed?
