Been thinking of replacing my silverado, been offered $21k from a ford dealer for a straight buy not contingent on buying another vehicle. obviously if i sell to the ford dealer i lose the tax savings of $1300 that I would gain from trading it in.

Fwiw, I would say jump on that 21k. With current 0% 72mths financing on the 2012 and all the manufacturer promotions, the new ones are selling at killer prices.
