retaining rap power without factory radio.

I want to remove the factory radio out of my 09 chevy 1500. No bose or onstar. But I would like to retain the rap power on the vehicle. Dont care about the chimes. I didn't really want to pay the 200 dollars for an os4 module. Is there a way to activate it with relays? Does anyone know how the class 2 data works? I have heard there is a pin in the junction block in the driver floor board. If i add power, will that energize the whole rap system? any help would be appreciated

Crutchfield has all of the wiring harnesses available, you may want to check with their tech services guys to see if the RAP is maintained. I imagine it would. The warning chime adapter is like $40 from them and the wiring adapters are free with purchase.

You may want to add up how much your new head unit, plus all the adaptors will cost, and compare that to the $1k the Advent OGM-1 from Walt costs. The Advent does not require any adaptors or picks to retain factory stuff on the head unit.

Rap is not controlled by the radio, the chimes and warning noises are. RAP is controlled by the onboard computer (BCM). You can replace the radio with no issues to the RAP system, only the chimes and warning noises will be gone if you dont address them.
