2003 Silverado Ignition Problem

I have a 2003 Silverado Z-71, 5.3 L.

A while back my ignition key cylinder became hard to turn, there would be a spot just after turning it past accessory where it would be "stuck", and I would have to turn it a bit harder to get it past that part in order to start.

Along with that, the truck will ding at me for about 30 seconds flashing my abs and brake light on my dash. Also, my wipers and cruise control will not work on the left hand controls. Blinkers work fine, brake lights work.

I replaced my ignition switch, thinking it would at least solve my wiper and cruise control issue. But nothing has changed after putting in new ignition switch. I have googled, and searched on gmtrucks, and lots of places, with no luck.

What else should i look into? I am mechanically inclined, but don't know much about this situation, so hopefully someone can help.. user_online.gifreputation.gif report.gif progress.gif

Have you checked for codes? Your ABS/ Brake lights are probably unrelated to your key problem.

yeah, ive checked codes. I think the abs is related to right front speed sensor being bad. But the lights dont always come on all the time. My wipers work when key set to accessory. Once i start the truck, then they dont work. Once out of every 20 times i start the truck, everything works fine..
