How much can I lift it?

I have a 2007 "Classic" 4WD Crew cab. I need to get a little more ground clearance for what I like/need it to do. How much can I lift the front using the torsion bars without messing up the CV joints, tie rod ends etc? I've seen 2.5" max for the GMT900's, but what about the GMT800's?

I've been looking at the Rough Country or Ready Lift leveling kit with the new torsion bar keys and then 2 or 3 inch spacers for the rear; I want to lift the front end and rear end the same amount, or a bit more for the front. I also want it to still fit in the garage with roof racks after the lift, so I can't do a 6-inch lift or anything like that. 3-inches in front and 2.5" to 3-inches in the rear would be ideal.

I could also sell the Silveado and get a 2005 or so Tundra or F150. They have 12" of clearance, stock. Why does GM have their 4WD trucks sit so low?

Thanks for the help.

2.5 is a pretty good all around height that shouldn't stress your cv axles. Turn up the torsion bars to your desired height and then look at the angles of the CV's to determine if you have it up to high

2.5" would be great for what u want to do. Put a jack under the front end and lift it to where you want it and you'll get a good idea of the angles before you ever touch the bars.depending on how worn out your tbars are tho u may not get 2.5" w/o leveling keys. Mine were to the point that fully maxed out I could only get 1 1/4" with my stock keys

What is the stock height supposed to be? That wold be a good place to start.

2.5" is too much. Guys who want cheap lift will tell you it's okay because they are running it but 2.5" is too much and will affect more than just your CV's. It'll chew up ball joints, etc. as well. You're better off with a BL and a little levling or a real suspension lift, IMO.

I only got 1.5 inches out of my bars with lift keys. Dont think Ide take it any higher though, just for the sake of the joints.
